Jada: Just getting started

The day we arrived to Olney, TX, we were greeted with unseasonably chilly weather for this area and overcast skies. By the time we off hooked the campers and got some supper rounded up, a nasty lightning storm was underway.

The guys getting the equipment unloaded thought they were going to get struck by the lightening. Thankfully it started raining and the lightening went away for the most part.

For the last couple days, we have been receiving showers and unable to cut. Our time has been spent installing our broadband radios in our combines and calibrating them, fueling up equipment, and other odds and ends jobs that can be done in preparation for harvest. At noon, we tested the wheat but the moisture was still at 14%.

We achieved our preferred 12.5% moisture later in the afternoon and were able to commence harvesting. It seems everyone is harvesting in neighboring towns which made us even more eager to get in the field. Hopefully the forecasted thunderstorms for the weekend disperse or harvested may come to a quick hault.
