Emma: Crazy Week Part lV and Final!

Emma_thumbnailWe’re still cutting! That statement may be three words long, but it is great to be able to say. It was our fourth and final day of cutting and things went fairly smooth. We had one minor breakdown, but were back cutting in no time. We finished the field that night making harvest in Texas come to a close. The wheat averaged around 13 bushels an acre, 10 percent moisture, and 56 pound test weight. August and I decided to take a walk while we waited for our turn in the combine. Pictures will say more than what I can describe, so here you go!

Little helper in the field. Holding all the parts and handing them to Dan when he needs them. He is great help!

A windmill just begs to be climbed on. Not a bad view of the field either!

The very moment I took this picture I said that there might be rattle snakes out here and that since it’s the heat of the day, they might be looking for shade… like under that yucca cactus!

All over the ground grows this tiny reddish plant.

August naturally thought they were red ants and started dancing. Trust me, you do not want to get near a red ant. Their bite hurts!

Emma: job is done!
After finishing the field comes clean up time. Dan blows the combine off while August removes and reattaches every shield, and I move the combine when needed so the wind can help us in every direction.

Be safe and God bless!
