Kansas wheat harvest 70 percent complete

Texas– Winter wheat continued to be harvested throughout the state. Producers in the Northern High Plains were spraying for weeds and insects.

Oklahoma– Wheat harvest was 95 percent complete.

Kansas– Winter wheat conditions rated 28 percent very poor, 33 poor, 27 fair, 11 good, and 1 excellent. Winter wheat mature was 94 percent, near 97 last year and 99 for the five-year average.  Winter wheat harvested was 70 percent, behind 83 last year and 88 average.

Colorado– Spring wheat was 80 percent headed, up 37 percentage points and slightly ahead of the average.  Development of winter wheat was estimated at 93 percent coloring and 61 percent ripe, up from 84 percent and 29 percent last week, respectively. The harvest of winter wheat was 22 percent complete, up 17 percentage points from the week prior.

Nebraska– Winter wheat conditions rated 6 percent very poor, 14 poor, 31 fair, 45 good, and 4 excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 85 percent, behind 90 last year, and the five-year average of 93. Winter wheat mature was 37 percent, ahead of 27 last year, but behind 44 average. Winter wheat harvested was 13 percent, ahead of 10 last year, but behind 26 average.

South Dakota– Winter wheat condition rated 0 percent very poor, 4 poor, 24 fair, 64 good, and 8 excellent. Coloring was 66 percent, well ahead of 22 last year and ahead of the five-year average of 63. Winter wheat mature was 2 percent, ahead of 0 last year but well behind 18 average.

Spring wheat condition rated 0 percent very poor, 1 poor, 18 fair, 67 good, and 14 excellent.  Spring wheat jointed was 96 percent.  Headed was 81 percent, equal to last year and near 83 average.

North Dakota– Winter wheat headed advanced to 88 percent. Turning color was 9 percent. Winter wheat condition rated 3 percent very poor, 11 poor, 33 fair, 47 good, and 6 excellent.

Durum wheat jointed was 59 percent, near 58 last year, but behind 70 for the five-year average. Headed rated 9 percent, behind 14 last year and 26 average. Condition rated 0 percent very poor, 1 poor, 12 fair, 82 good, and 5 excellent.

Spring wheat jointed was 84 percent, well ahead of last year at 64, but near 83 average. Headed rated 35 percent, ahead of last year at 29, but behind 40 average.  Condition rated 1 percent very poor, 2 poor, 14 fair, 66 good, and 17 excellent.
