Independence Day festivities

This Independence Day, Misener Family Harvesters had the chance to kick up our feet and relax for a change! It rained and it was still too wet to cut, so we made a day of it. We slept in, did some work in the shop until early evening, cooked supper and rented a very good movie, “American Sniper.” I am telling you, that is what America is about. I highly recommend watching it. It was definitely a treat to be able to relax a bit and actually sit down and eat as a family without having to rush through it. Later, we headed into town to watch a few fireworks, and then turned in for the night.

Happy Birthday America! In the words of Ronald Reagan,
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
I think we especially have to protect it in today’s world. God bless America, now more than ever!

As I have raved about in the past, Mom has outdone herself again! Pulled pork sandwiches with provolone cheese and BBQ sauce, homemade jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks, homemade salsa with chips, margaritas with a little salt, of course, and to top it all off, she made homemade ice cream! How can you get more American than that?!


Emma: craziness!This homemade salsa is the best ever! The next day, Mom added some fresh peaches to it! That was heavenly!
