23 Jun Jenna: Move to Manter

On Sunday morning we left Seiling, Okla., and made the first trip to our second stop in Manter, Kan. We have to make two trips with each move and we normally take the combine on the first trip, but we did it a little backwards this time.

We arrived in Manter around 4:30 p.m. and set up camp. This involves unhooking and parking the trailer house; connecting electricity, water and sewer; and setting up everything inside. We also unhook and unload the equipment.

Since we’re cutting with and parked right next to our friends, the Krumbachs, we all went out for supper to celebrate Father’s Day. After supper, my dad and I left for Seiling to get the rest of our stuff. My little sister, Taylor, also came along for the ride. We got to Seiling around 12:30 a.m.

We woke up at 6 a.m. the next morning, loaded the combine, got fuel, and settled up with our farmer. We were on the road around 9 a.m. and made it back to Manter around 3 p.m. We unloaded the combine right away and got to work. It was a long couple of days!

Trip Totals: about 300 miles x 3 = 900 miles; 5ish hours x 3 = 15 hours on the road
Summer Totals: 2400 miles; 45 hours
