Warm, dry weather progresses wheat harvest

Warm, dry weather progresses wheat harvest in northern states of High Plains
While rains in Colorado have slowed wheat harvest, warm, dry weather has increased the progress of harvest in Nebraska in South Dakota. Hopefully wheat harvest can wrap up in Nebraska and Colorado within the next few weeks.

Colorado
High temperatures and showers swept across the state. Currently, winter wheat is 89 percent ripe and 70 percent harvested. Spring wheat is 90 percent headed and 5 percent harvested.

Nebraska
The state received an average of less than half inch last week, with some counties receiving crop damage from hail. Warm temperatures allowed wheat harvest to progress rapidly in western counties. Ninety-nine percent of wheat is ripe and is 85 percent harvested, thus far.

South Dakota
Producers experienced warm, dry weather throughout last week, which helped increase progress for winter wheat harvest to be 40 percent complete. Eighty-six percent of winter wheat is ripe, while 85 percent of spring wheat is turning color.
