Emma: Cooling Down

Wow, it’s a hot one out there across wheat country. Temperatures are in the triple digits in some areas. Often times thunderstorms will pop up, and if you check the Facebook page you can see a few of the pictures I snapped snapped of a storm just north of Elk City. It’s pretty wicked looking.

When it comes to staying cool during the hot days we have a great treat we like to enjoy on those hot summer days. I thought I would share how the Misener crew cools off.

Maybe you can try it too.

Strawberry Limeades
1 cup of lime juice
4 cups of cold water
1/2 cup of sugar
3 cups of frozen sliced strawberries
10 cubes of ice
1 liter of lemon-lime soda

Combine lime juice, water, sugar and strawberries in a blender and blend until smooth. While the blender is running, add ice cubes one at a time. Serve right away in a glass half full of crushed ice. Fill 2/3 full of strawberry limeade, and the remaining 1/3 of lemon-lime soda.

This serves about 12 not-so-thirsty people. We drank it all and there are only six of us.

My sister Liz pouring us the awesome mixture. It’s a good thirst quencher.
