11 Jun Jada: Testing wheat in Pratt
Yesterday, we were unable to cut due to the moisture. This morning when we woke up and saw the weather report, we felt even more pressure to get in the field. They are forecasting rain/ hail storms for the area we are cutting in. Around noon, we went and tested the field we tried to cut yesterday. It was just too wet. So we moved to test a potential other field and we could cut! The moisture was ranging from 11 – 12%- below where our farmer wants it to be. The test weights are 61 and the field is averaging around 35 – 40 bu/ ac. Here are some photos of us testing the wheat.
Getting the engine fired up and getting settled in to test wheat.
Away we go to test the wheat.
Look mommy the neighbors are testing too! It doesn’t look too promising as they are quitting. And yes… too wet!
Moving to a new field. Crossing our fingers and hoping this field can go.
The green machines are hungry to get in the field.
Our farmer Ross comes to check out the action and hopes we can cut especially with the weather reports.
What I am digging today……… Oxy Clean Stain Remover
Kid and crew approved this stuff really works. Blood, grass and dirt stains, even grease has been removed with this.

Posted at 20:36h, 11 JuneIf you’ve ever seen the movie The Bucket List that’s what I’m working on. Was wondering if you knew of anybody who could use a good operator for a week or two this fall in harvesting. Do not want pay, just maybe room and board for me and my dog. Been around farms all my life. Just always wanted to run a combine and harvest wheat on an endless field. Hope you can help me mark an item off my list.
Thanks
Jada
