Jada: Another birthday bash

Since we received rain, the guys were able to join us in Mobridge for some fun at the river. The guys enjoyed some water sports. They tubed and jet skied. Then we finally had a birthday supper for Oak, which of course, included a big burger and all the fixings. The meal was made especially for us by mom. Then we chit chatted by the pit and roasted marshmallows. It was a fun night.

We enjoyed the belated birthday bash for Andreas and Oak. Now that we have sufficiently celebrated their birthdays, hopefully later today we’ll be able to get back in the field. For the time being, everyone is doing some needed maintenance on our equipment and chores around the farm. Rain showers are forecasted again so we are once again wondering what the weathers going to do.  Here are some photos of our birthday bash by the river.

Here is the recipe for Oak’s birthday dessert.

Cream Puff Dessert

1 C. Water

1/2 C margarine or butter

1 C all purpose flour

4 eggs

FILLING

1 8oz pkg cream cheese softened

3 1/2 C. milk

2 pkgs instant chocolate pudding mix

TOPPING

1 8oz carton of whipped topping

carmel and chocolate icecream topping

chopped nuts (optional)

In a large saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil over medium heat. Add flour all at once; stir until a smooth ball forms. Remove from the heat; let stand for 5 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue beating until mixture is smooth and shiny.

Spread into a greased 9X13 in pan. Bake at 400 for 30 to 35 mins until golden brown. Cool completey before adding filling.

For filling beat cream cheese in one bowl and beat pudding and milk in another. Slowly combine together until mixture is combined and smooth then spread over puff. For topping spread whipped topping over filling and drizzle with chocolate and carmel toppings and sprinkle on nuts.

* For a spin on this recipe, try butterscotch pudding instead of chocolate.
