Posted at 08:53h, 17 JulyI remember helping Mom & Grandma fix “field suppers” and then taking them out to the guys – best part of summer for us kids! We had a variety – hobo plates, fried chicken, meatloaf, hen & noodles and many more. But one of the favorites was something flavorful, somewhat light and completely summer! BLTs, baked beans, potato salad, cantaloupe & watermelon, extra tomatoes sliced and chocolate cake or cherry pie! That was one meal we never came home with leftovers of!

Posted at 10:59h, 17 JulyWell I was younger then… but my favorite meal in the field was served by two local cheerleaders in shorts. I think we had BBQ and beans served on a small folding table. We had fruit and brownies for desert. Not sure if I enjoyed the food or the server more but I still remember that meal 25 years later.
More recently we have a sleeper cab on the semi where we’ve removed the bed and installed a table with benches. The crew crowds in at meal times to enjoy the AC. No matter what’s for dinner, the conversation is friendly and everything tastes great. It’s not what you eat, it’s who you eat it with that counts.

Posted at 23:25h, 17 JulyThinking back to my younger days when working on a farm brings back fond memories of mealtimes. Funtimes that were shared with family and co-workers on the tailgate of a pickup. The favorite meal would have to be Fried Chicken, ranch beans and everybodys favorite…”tater salad”! That’s what harvesters REALLY run on…not diesel but “tater salad”! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
