Wheat well ahead in northern states

Texas– Wheat harvest neared completion in the Plains and the Trans-Pecos. In the Edwards Plateau, some producers continued to bale wheat hay.

Oklahoma– Farmers continued to plow small grain fields with wheat and oats passing the 80 percent complete mark.

Nebraska– Wheat harvested was 97 percent, compared to 23 last year and 20 days ahead of average.

Colorado– Winter wheat harvest has come to a close with 99 percent harvested at week’s end, 49 percentage points ahead of the five-year average. Spring wheat was reported in mostly good condition by the end of the week, with 97 percent headed.

South Dakota– Small grain harvest was underway with winter wheat at 82 percent harvested and spring wheat at 12 percent harvested. Both were well ahead of last year’s crop and the five-year average.
