Harvest is moving north

Texas– Winter wheat harvest was 84 percent complete, compared to 73 percent last week and 99 percent a year ago.

Oklahoma– Summer harvest is winding down, with 94 percent of wheat harvested.

Kansas– Winter wheat crop was 99 percent ripe, compared to 100 percent last year and 99 average. The crop was 87 percent harvested, behind last year’s 100 but close to the 89 average.

Colorado– Nearly all standing winter wheat was turning color with 45 percent ripe and 16 percent harvested thus far. Condition ratings fro wheat held steady last week with most still rated very poor to poor.

Nebraska– Conditions rated 24 percent very poor, 26 percent poor, 31 fair, 18 good and 1 excellent. Wheat turning color was 92 percent, behind 100 last year but near the 95 average. Wheat ripe was 30 percent, behind 97 last year and 48 average. Twelve percent of the crop was harvested, well behind 90 last year and 27 average.

South Dakota– Winter wheat headed was 98 percent, near 100 last year and 99 average. Wheat turning color was at 25 percent, well behind 100 last year and 74 average. Conditions rated 38 percent very poor, 20 poor, 27 fair, 14 good and 1 excellent.

North Dakota– Wheat emerged was at 96 percent, behind last year at 100, but equal to the 96 average. Jointed was at 61 percent, behind last year at 100 and 76 average. Headed was at 16 percent, behind last year at 83 and the 34 average. Conditions rated 0 percent very poor, 2 poor, 16 fair, 77 good and 5 excellent.

Montana– Winter wheat is developing ahead of the 5 year average with 98 percent headed and 24 percent turning color.
