First Oklahoma wheat stop is done

The first stop in Oklahoma for Misener family is finished! The wheat overall averaged right at 23 bushels per acre, 13 percent moisture, and 50-pound test weight. This wheat crop was really pretty poor. Considering the previous few years, though, it was a great feeling to be able to actually cut something. I am praying that the rain continues here in Oklahoma.

The water we had a month ago is slowly receding. The ground is so dry that the lakes and ponds are slowly dwindling. The ground is so thirsty, it is taking all it can get. We need a lot of rain to make up for the past seven years. I am already worried about next year’s wheat crop.
