A little rain never hurt anyone

After a much needed break for the Fourth, we headed back to the field and started cutting once again. Other than the few green weeds that are growing in the fields, the wheat is good. As I mentioned in a previous post, we are keeping busy and have picked up work. We are now on our fourth farmer this harvest season, and have one more lined up after we are finished with him. The wheat is averaging 30 to 35 bushels per acre, moisture is right at 11 percent, and the test weight is better than our first stop, averaging 50 to 55 pounds. For this area, the sandy ground has made pretty good wheat!

We cut a day and a half before it rained again. It has been a muggy past few days and is still currently overcast and cool. It has been a long time since I have seen 70 degree temperatures in the usual hot and sunny July in Oklahoma. But the cool weather is very welcome.
