10 Jun Fixin’ Heads

Elk City, Ok — Around here we are checking over our heads to make sure that they, like the combines, are in tip-top shape. What good is a combine if you don’t have a head in front of it?! Liz and I replaced quite a few broken fingers the other day. This is a hot job and it is not exactly the most fun, but it is a job that has to be done. While Liz and I were fixing fingers, Dan was inside doing paperwork. THAT is a NEVER-ENDING job! There’s no way I’d switch no matter how hot it got outside!

 This is what the inside of the auger looks like. We take off those bolts, spread the plastic apart, replace the finger, and put it all back together. Sounds easy, right? Now try doing all of that with your arms extended forward and elbows together. Not so easy then! But we got the job done and the heads now have fingers again.
