Night Calls

Jet, Okla. – And just like that, we are at our second stop on the run. Dad got squared up with Farmer Mike while the rest of us packed up the campers and we were on our merry way before we knew it. After our quick three-hour drive, we tossed the combines off the trailers and got right to it. The loads to the elevator had 60-62 pound test weights and around 10 percent moisture content. Farmer Mike here in Jet can’t help but be happy to see those numbers.

Mom and I refer to it as “that one big, expensive belt” but really it’s the rotor belt. Around sunset, Dad was combining along and started to hear a “tick-tick-tick” sound. Upon searching for the source, he discovered that his rotor belt was about to rip apart. This is one of those parts where if it goes, 15 other parts could go with it. Luckily, New Holland Harvest Support is only a half hour away and they make night calls! We had a new belt delivered and replaced within a couple hours.
