Janel: Hammer down

Holdrege, Nebraska — Time flies when you’re having fun! We’ve been harvesting full throttle for weeks, and it feels great! It’s only the first week of October, and we’ve already made good progress on soybeans.

The soybean yields have been high, and test weights have been 56 to 58 pounds per bushel. We are extremely lucky to have an elevator that’s quick to get our trucks unloaded. That’s so nice, and then it’s back to the field to get loaded again.

Our forecast continues to be sunny and clear with highs in the 80s. Fall harvest is moving right along. Once we finish soybeans we’ll be picking corn. We’ve got six combines here harvesting soybeans and corn and three in Kansas picking corn. It’s hammer down. The weather is hot, dry and windy day after day.
