Sherry: It’s been a great week!

Johnson, Kansas — Hi y’all! We are still enjoying our time in this area harvesting corn! The weather is dry and warm, but it is not anywhere as hot as it is in Texas.

We were able to witness a spectacular showing of the Northern Lights Oct. 10. We shut down for a bit and had to have a photo shoot. We may never be able to experience a sight like this ever again! The kids staged the equipment with the Northern Lights as the backdrop.

We have run into some green corn, so we made the decision with the farmer to swap concaves and jump on some milo. The milo we harvested was dry land milo. It did not take long to harvest. It took us longer to move between fields than to harvest the crop. The boys had to run back into Colorado to harvest a field. They made the trek with their 40-foot draper heads on. That was fun! They have gotten so good with moving around with the headers on, bobbing and weaving through all the signs on both sides of the roads.

We were on milo for only four days between Kansas and Colorado. The weather has been perfect, and the milo crop was fair.

Once we wrapped up with milo, we changed out concaves, again, and moved back on to the corn. Our boys much prefer corn over milo, especially during service time. They don’t especially like blowing off the combines covered in milo dust. Baby powder is their best friend when blowing off the machines.

On Oct. 7, we had a cotton picker start picking cotton in Texas. I haven’t gotten any information other than that, but I’m still thrilled about it. Ha!

Hope you enjoy our photos! We will see y’all next time! Take care!
