Kimberly: The end

It has been a very long time since we have had our harvest season end in October, but this year we finished the last field just in time to go trick or treating with the kids. It is Nov. 4, and we still have no snow, which is also unusual, but I am not complaining.

The last load of corn for the season

Karlie and I cleaned out the first crew camper on Oct. 13, which is way too early, but it was very nice to clean a camper up when it’s not freezing or snowing! We had campers coming home every week after that, and we just kept getting them done and winterized. Danica brought the last crew camper home last week, and we still had one with some employees in it, but they all left the same day, so Renee and Danica took one camper, and Karlie and I took the other one, and we had all plus our personal campers cleaned and winterized before Halloween. It’s a great feeling to be done, but also very sad to see the season come to an end. We left May 14 to head to Texas, and we finished our season Oct. 31 at home.

The guys had most of the machines cleaned up and put away while we still had some employees still around, so they didn’t have to wash the combines in the cold this year, either. We have two employees left, but they will be leaving within the next two weeks.

We have had some foggy, frosty mornings, but over the weekend we got a nice rain for the first time in two months.

Bentley and Payzlee start wrestling this month, so we are about to get busy. It was a nice break after football, but I am ready for this season!
