Kimberly: Time to relax…maybe

Harvest may be over, but sometimes I feel my life is just as hectic if not more than the summer. I love living where we do, but it’s a long ways from things. The kids go to school 25 miles from our house, but most of their sports practices are an additional 20 miles from school. In the fall, for football, I would have to go to the school to pick up the Bowdon kids and take them to practice because it is not a school-affiliated program. Thankfully, Karlie, myself and another Bowdon mom did some carpooling so we don’t have to make that trip every day. It’s a little over an 80-mile round trip, so you are gone for most of the afternoon. That’s also not counting running for games, which can be a little over an hour away!

Wrestling season has started, and since Bentley is able to wrestle with the junior high kids he gets to ride the bus to Harvey for practice, but we still have to run to Fessenden to get them after the bus brings them back. There are a few Bowdon kids wrestling, so me and another mom are taking turns running to town to get them. The days I don’t drive I still have to go pick them up from her, which is about 8 miles! I feel I am in the car as much as I am at home. Pretty soon, Payzlee will start wrestling, which is also not a program affiliated with the school, so we will once again be driving to Harvey for her to practice. At least it’s only two days a week. After Christmas, Bentley will start wrestling for the same club as Payzlee, so at least all their meets will be the same weekends!

We had a mini blizzard this week. First snow of the year.

We also have a few trips planned this winter, a Neumiller family trip, the USCHI convention, a trip with the kids for Thanksgiving, and Mychal and I will also be attending the Canadian Harvest convention.

So we do get to spend some time relaxing and spending time with family. It is a lot some days, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

We had a mini blizzard this week. School was canceled, and the kids were happy. We didn’t get a lot of snow, but we had a lot of wind making the visibility and highways a concern. It was the first snow of the year.
