23 Jun Jenna: Harvest in Hooker
Hooker, Okla. – We had another big day of cutting around Hooker. We started the day by cleaning up the fields that were started last week. Since the ground has dried since then, we can go back and cut the wheat that was left because of the mud. Later in the day we moved to new fields, which are averaging as well as the fields yesterday – around 55 bushels per acre and 60-61 pounds.
Tonight at supper, I caught the whole crew right before they were about to move to a new field, so everyone stopped and took a small break. Then it was back to work. I followed them to the next field, where I went on a bit of a photo-spree. It was a beautiful night.
The Deeres unload after finishing a field.
Mom gives a wave after climbing out of the combine.
The Adams and Zeorian crew stop to grab a bite to eat/take a quick breather before moving to the next field.
