Posted at 11:26h, 31 JulyStarting in the eary 1940’s my dad did the custom harvest thing from
Texas to Montana. I went with him till the early 1950’s.
I can relate to a lot of the things the young ladys have commeted on.
We started before self propeled combines.
1941 W9 IHC tractor
1941 Baldwin pull type combine
1939 ford truck
Dad was lucky to get the tractor and the combine just before they froze making farm macines in World war 2
We had fuel rations, tires needed to be applied for and such but farming got #1 approvals.

Posted at 12:58h, 31 JulyUs old folk have finally learned how to use E-mail…and that’s as far as it goes. All the other fandangled gizamahoochies are for the younger set.
Thanks for asking!
My wife and I enjoy reading all the posts – we harvest in CA and find what we do is a teeny bit different than what they do. But, we are all in it together and it is always a delight to read what others are experiencing.
